FIFTH ANNUAL ST. JOHN TOWNSHIP DAV WALK

Thank you to everyone who helped make the rescheduled 5th Annual St. John Township DAV Walk held on October 10th a success! It was a beautiful ceremony, a fun day at the park, and a wonderful tribute to our military members and veterans.

We are so grateful to our sponsors, participants, donors, and volunteers for your incredible community support! A special thank you to the Town of Schererville and DAV Glenn F. Renicker Chapter #17 of Hammond, Indiana, for co-hosting this meaningful event.

Since our first walk in 2022, the funds raised and awareness shared have helped veterans access resources and VA benefits they may not have known were available to them.

Thank you all for your generosity, dedication, and continued commitment to those who have served our country. Together, we are making a difference!

Please enjoy the photos!

Thank you to Deborah Johnson Photography at www.Deborahjphotography.com for volunteering to capture the Walk with photos.

THIRD ANNUAL ST. JOHN TOWNSHIP DAV WALK

Thank you to everyone who supported the local Disabled American Veterans! It was a wonderful event with a great turnout. It was because of all of you: Town of Schererville, DAV Glenn F. Renicker Chapter #17 of Hammond Indiana, every sponsor, each volunteer, the speakers, those who made a monetary donation, and all who attended the Walk that made this a wonderful and successful event! Thank you!!

This Walk helped raise funds and raise awareness of the benefits available to the well deserving vets. Since the first Walk in the Township in 2022, we have seen the fruit of veterans being helped who never knew they were eligible to receive VA benefits.

Mark your calendars for August 2025 when the 4th Annual St. John Township (Tri-Town) DAV Walk will be held. Exact date TBD.

Please enjoy the photos. There are many, but they capture the Walk well.

FIRST ANNUAL DAV WALK

SATURDAY, MAY 28, 10AM

WICKER PARK IN HIGHLAND, IN

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, St. John Township Trustee, Cathy J. Lareau, attended a DAV (Disabled American Veterans ) walk. The Color Guard were present. They played Taps as participants made their way down the walk where placards displayed the pictures, names and ages of the over 300 Fallen Hero’s from Indiana who lost their lives (either killed in action or suicide due to PTSD) since 9/11.
To say that there was a wave of emotion to witness this is an understatement.
In was an honor to attend and to witness the honoring of these Fallen Hero’s. Freedom Is Not Free.
